Link2Speech Therapy & Behavior Clinic
Laura joined Link2Speech Therapy and Behavior Clinic in September 2020. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1999. She worked as an intern in an adult home health setting and at the Denton County Special Education Cooperative. She then took several years to raise and homeschool her five children. From 2008-2019 she co-founded and served as an executive board member and teacher for a homeschool cooperative that met weekly and served up to 100 children each year. She enjoyed developing curriculum and teaching children from preschool through high school in various subjects including language arts, math, and science.
In January of 2020 Laura decided to re-enter the field of Occupational Therapy and completed a re-entry course in pediatrics through Lone Star College which included an internship at a local outpatient pediatric clinic. She has completed specialty trainings in Handwriting Without Tears, Talk Tools Feeding First, and the SUCCESS Approach to Autism.
Laura loves working with children and is passionate about helping them build on their strengths. She has experience working with children with sensory processing differences, developmental delays, visual motor and visual perceptual difficulties, cognitive impairments, apraxia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Down’s Syndrome. Laura values celebrating neurodiversity. Raising and homeschooling two of her own children on the Autism Spectrum gives her unique insight and empathy when working with families with special needs.
When Laura is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with Ryan, her husband of 25 years, and her children ages 11-21. She loves lifting weights, going out to eat, watching her girls dance in the Denton City Contemporary Ballet, and participating in high adventure outdoor recreation like skiing, whitewater rafting, and rappelling.
