Kandace achieved her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders in May 2010 and her Masters of Communication Disorders in December 2011 at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She proudly holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Kandace is passionate about working with the pediatric population. She has worked with a variety of ages from infants to young adults in a variety of settings, including general education and self-contained elementary classes, home health, daycares, preschools, and private clinics. Her experience in these settings has given her countless opportunities to evaluate and treat the following diagnoses: developmental delays, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, articulation/phonology disorders, dyslexia, Cerebral Palsy, expressive/receptive language disorders, cognitive impairments, central auditory processing disorders, fluency disorders, and voice disorders.
Kandace is excited to share her skills from her training in the PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) intervention technique to help clients at the Link2Speech. This intervention technique involves utilizing tactile cues on the facial structures to enhance an individual’s motor planning for speech production. She has seen great success with clients who are most receptive to tactile cues and are hands-on learners.
Kandace feels choosing a career that gives her the opportunity to positively impact children and their family’s lives forever is absolutely one of the best decisions she has ever made. She enjoys making therapy fun, motivating, and individualized each session per client to help children make progress towards goals and achieve milestones that will help them their entire lives.
When she is not working at the clinic, Kandace loves spending quality time with her sweet little boy who made her life brighter when he was born on August 4th in 2018, and her Yorkie who adds a whole new level of fun and excitement to their family with all her energy and excitement! Kandace also makes time in her busy schedule to let her creative side out; she enjoys organizing her planner, crafting, and honing her woodworking skills while refinishing projects around the house. In her lifetime, Kandace wants to swim with dolphins!
